Tianjin Binhai Library →
MVRDV and Tianjin Urban Planning and Design Institute (TUPDI) have completed Tianjin Binhai Library as part of a larger masterplan to provide a cultural district for the city. The 33,700m2 cultural centre featuring a luminous spherical auditorium and floor-to-ceiling cascading bookcases functions not only as an education centre but as a social space and connector from the park into the cultural district.
The Moving Facade of Bund Finance Center,
Designed by British architectural firms, Foster + Partners and Heatherwick Studio, the 420,000 square meter development includes two 180-meter-high landmark towers, containing offices, a boutique hotel, and a wide variety of luxury retail spaces. At the heart of the scheme is the arts and cultural center with a flexible façade that can be changed to dramatically alter the look of the building.
The front of Fosun Foundation cultural and arts centre consists of three layers of bronze tubes, visually similar to bamboo, moving vertically around the structure, altering the shape of the building. The design was reportedly inspired by traditional Chinese theatres.
Tree in the House →
Kazakhstan based architect, Aibek Almasov unifies eco-friendliness, modern design, and nature in his 2013 concept ‘Modern Tree House’. The tactful design is purposed to be constructed around a tree lavishing up 4 floors through the center, allowing you to live first-hand with a tree.
With lighting, energy, and water being a priority, the clear structure is made of transparent solar panels connected to a Tesla ‘Powerwal’”, rainwater is collected for use, and wastewater is purified through a natural system. Potentially launching in 2017, this eco-responsible home means one less tree getting cut down throughout the years.
The Da Vinci Tower →
The Dynamic Tower, also known as the Da Vinci Tower is a planned 1,378 ft, 80-floor moving skyscraper in Dubai, United Arab Emirates designed by David Fisher. The tower will be constantly in motion changing its shape. Each floor will be able to rotate independently moving a maximum of 20 feet per minute making it one full rotation within 90 minutes. It will also generate electric energy for itself.

Vessel →
Due for completion in Autumn 2018, Vessel has been commissioned as the centrepiece for the largest development in New York City since the Rockefeller Center. Rather than just be something to look at, Heatherwick Studio‘s design undertook the challenge of creating a landmark every inch of which could be climbed and explored. Vessel will lift the public up, offering new ways to look at New York, Hudson Yards and each other.
Its 154 interconnecting flights of stairs, 2,400 steps and 80 landings will create a mile’s worth of pathway rising up above the public plaza. It will stand 150 feet tall, with a diameter of 50 feet at its base, widening to 150 feet at its top. Currently in fabrication in Italy, it is constructed of a structural painted steel frame with its underside surfaces covered by a polished copper-coloured steel skin.
